apibrėžtis Veiksnių ir sąlygų, nuo kurių priklauso kovos užduočių atlikimas ir mūšio (operacijos) tikslo įgyvendinimas, išsiaiškinimas ir nagrinėjimas. Situaciją įvertina vadai, priimdami sprendimą ir valdydami karinius vienetus mūšyje. Vertinant situaciją dalyvauja karinių vienetų štabai ir tarnybos. Įvertinant situaciją, išsiaiškinami veiksniai ir sąlygos, kurios sunkina arba lengvina kovos užduoties atlikimą, numatomos priemonės, neutralizuojančios nepalankius ir efektyviai panaudojančios palankius veiksnius. Įvertinant situaciją išsiaiškinami ir nagrinėjami duomenys apie priešą, savo pajėgas, kovos veiksmų rajoną, meteorologines ir klimatines sąlygas, laiką ir kt. situacijos elementai.
